New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Jana DeLeon was raised in southwest Louisiana among the bayous and gators. Her hometown is Carlyss, but you probably won't find it on a map. Her family owned a camp located on a bayou just off the Gulf of Mexico that you could only get there by boat. Delightful entertainment with serious and lighthearted moments. Great characters, loads of laughs, and the usual wonderful sidekicks. Fast paced and over too soon, we follow the Easter holiday in Sinful, resolution of a recent military event, and trying to right a 10 year old crime while managing a critical illness in a young boy are just a few things that Fortune, Ida Belle, Gertie, and Carter are facing. Wonderful series!

I love this whole series. Jana Deleon has a whole fan club on Facebook as well. I cannot tell you how many times I laughed at Gertie's antics. These are characters I could totally be friends with and would keep me on my toes! I don't want to give away too much, but it is a good mystery with an interesting plot. The characters are absolutely hilarious. I've recommended this whole series to so many people. Start at Book 1, you will be totally wrapped up in the story line. VERY addicting and super fun.

I don't have enough superlatives to describe this book. Each time I read a Miss Fortune mystery I am again amazed at the tight weave of the story, the bits of humor and fun and the love stories all intertwined together. Baskets And Beignets is one of the very best. I applaud Jana on her plotting, character development and thorough world building. I never find a faux pas where the wrong character is referenced. Very well written.

These books are a perfect blend of humor and action. The characters continue to grow. I had no idea who did it! I like the way the author is rounding out the group by adding another to make a pair. I'm really hoping the baker and her boyfriend get married. The story moves right along with twists and turns. Love reading the continual stories.
