The classic masterpiece by #1 New York Times bestselling author Stephen King—illustrated by the legendary artist Bernie Wrightson!
Terror began in January—by the light of the full moon...
The first scream came from the snowbound railwayman who felt the werewolf’s fangs ripping at his throat. The next month there was a scream of ecstatic agony from the woman attacked in her cozy bedroom. Now scenes of unbelievable horror unfold each time the full moon shines on the isolated Maine town of Tarker’s Mills. No one knows who will be attacked next. But one thing is sure. When the full moon rises, a paralyzing fear sweeps through Tarker's Mills. For snarls that sound like human words can be heard whining through the wind. And all around are the footprints of a monster whose hunger cannot be sated...

It is the best werewolf novel of all times. It is succinct, brief, and right to the point. Everthing is told as lengthy as it should be. No dragged episodes. It sometimes feel like a summery of a longer novel but that doesn't bother me. I love it the way it is. Too bad, its movie version is so different and basically just a crap.

Not Silver Bullet

Although the cheesy but great werewolf is based on this novella, only a few elements remain. This is a tight story and a fast read. I love the way the chapters are laid out in months, the the illustrations are incredible. If you enjoyed Silver Bullet, you’ll love this. If you found the film awful, this is essentially the same story told much better. Highly recommend

Silver Bullet

I had seen the film Silver Bullet some fifteen plus years before reading Cycle of the Werewolf and didn't know the latter was the basis for the former. Nonetheless, despite miraculously remembering the gist of the story from watching the movie nearly two decades earlier, I still very much enjoyed this piece—including the illustrations. It is a quick read, but like all of Mr. King’s work, a thoroughly entertaining read that will leave you wanting more.
