All the pretty girls vanish one by one… Return to the riveting start of the Taylor Jackson series by New York Times bestselling author J.T. Ellison with a heart-pounding case of murder, intrigue, and lies buried deep.

After a local girl turns up dead, Nashville Homicide lieutenant Taylor Jackson is determined to catch the serial rapist responsible for the crime. Called “The Southern Strangler,” this sadistic killer is slaughtering young women throughout Southeast, leaving a gruesome memento at each crime scene—the prior victim's severed hand. Taylor finds herself in a joint investigation with her lover, FBI profiler Dr. John Baldwin, as they pursue the vicious murderer.

Ambitious TV reporter Whitney Connolly is certain the Southern Strangler is her ticket out of Nashville; she's got a scoop that could break the case. But she has no idea how close to this story she really is—or what it will cost her.

Battling an old injury and her own demons, Taylor is desperate to quell the rising tide of bodies. But as the killer spirals out of control, everyone involved must face a horrible truth—the purest evil is born of private lies.

Gripping Murder Mystery!

All the Pretty Girls was a gripping story full of murder, mystery and secrets. Taylor Jackson, Homicide Lieutenant, is on a case involving a serial killer along with her boyfriend, Dr. John Baldwin, who is a FBI profiler.

Taylor has had a serious injury from a previous case from which she is still recovering. She has her own issues to get over and dealing with this new case has only increased her anxiety.

There are a lot of twists and turns, murder and mayhem that will keep the reader swiftly turning pages as the action ratchets further. I found this to be an engrossing read that I couldn’t put down.

This is only the first story in this series that will grip the reader and make you want to read more of them. I look forward to the next book.

Excellent serial killer thriller

All the Pretty Girls is the first JT Ellison book I've read. It was such a page turner. Taylor is on two cases -- the Rain man, a serial rapist stalking Nashville and the Southern Strangler, a serial killer targeting pretty brunettes with a thing for creepy poetry.

There are a lot of twists and surprises throughout the book involving the two cases. Great supporting characters like Baldwin, Taylor's FBI boyfriend.

It's a very dark plot, the author doesn't shy from writing the gory details. Many point of views including the killer.

Best thriller I've read in awhile. So glad there are a few books in the series. I highly recommend this!

I enjoyed the Taylor and Baldwin partnership. The story line was a big stretch for me but I will continue on with the series. I can't say more about the story without making this a spoiler, but I will say I can't believe any family with wealth would make the choices this family did.

Pretty good but could have been better

I enjoyed this book and would not hesitate to recomend it to someone looking for a good serial killer read. My real problem with this book was the ending which I felt was just kind of rushed and just kind of blah. There never was any moment or moments of spine tingling tension. The ending came and was over and the book ended. yawn. The twist on the killer was also kind of weak in that it was pretty obvious what was going on. I figured out the killer almost at the same time the character was intorduced into the story. I read another review that mentioned the false pregnancy in the middle of the book. I too wondered why that had been thrown in. It really added nothing to the story. There were some likable characters in here. Taylor and Baldwin and Whitney, although, as with a lot of favorite characters of mine, Whitney probably won't be in the sequel. I also liked the idea that Taylor, the female lieutenant had the respect and cooperation of her male detectives working for her and she returned that respect. That made for a good team atmosphere. So there it is, a better than average read. Go for it.

Storytelling Ability

Like a songwriter who writes his chorus before he discovers his verse, I rarely ever start a mystery/thriller series at the beginning. ALL THE PRETTY GIRLS is no exception to this rule; however, I was surprised by how much I enjoyed J.T. Ellison's debut novel. Sure, it's easy to make the argument that this book was a bit formulaic at times, but unless you write literary fiction, what book isn't? With only 20 plots (or 3 or 7 or 36, depending on whom you ask) to work with, it's not like authors have an abundance of choices out there. What it really boils down to is character and storytelling ability. And I'd say Ms. Ellison has both in spades.

Lieutenant Taylor Jackson and Dr. John Baldwin made the story interesting for me, even if they weren't quite fully-formed, and I gathered pages the way a squirrel might gather nuts. I was suspended and dangling, although I still had a firm grip on reality.

Even as I reached the end, I found myself wanting more, of these characters and of this city. But I didn't find myself craving more dead bodies. All-in-all I'll be interested to see where this series goes next.
