Dance of Dreams

Is there a bad Nora Roberts book? I doubt it....at least I have never read one yet. From the very first chapter, this book grabs your interest and you are lost in her story as if you were one of her characters. I picked it up and couldn't put it down until I finished it ( in one day). This is, of course one of her older books, but is part of a series, so if you need to see her list from the very beginning to the last book in print..go to Nora Roberts.com and that will give you a real eye opener of just how many books she has written. It is pretty outstanding. Unlike so many other female authors, she does not repeat herself in words, characters or settings. So enjoy each and every one of her novels. Amazon has quite a list of her books too.

There's nothing I don't like about this book. The passion, intensity, and a seemingly astute sense of what dancers experience in their efforts to excel and perfect their craft. I loved the temperament expressed in the personalities analyzed in the storyline. As a musician myself, it's easy to identify with the characters, as we tend toward anxiety, a little paranoia, strive to perfection, and are just a little neurotic. Nora, you've pegged us melancholics pretty well. I could have clobbered Leah. Most of us are nothing like her.

5stars. As a 'romance' novel I found it not to let the reader down. As a dedicated Nora Roberts fan, I knew the potential ending. So I could relax, enjoy the book without the stress of wondering. One of the reasons I love her books so much is knowing she isn't going to let me down. Her writing flows, page after page I wrap myself with thorough enjoyment. This is my first attempt to critique , I hope it's acceptable. Thank you.

Of the two related Bannon books, this is by far the better book. The main male character in the first book, Reflections, is insufferable and sexually accosts her at every turn and yet, of course, the main female character falls in love with him. I hate that. In this book, the main male character is certainly arrogant, but it is part of his passionate, Russian artiste’s charm. The two things that did drive me crazy were (1) some of the stereotypes about dancers and (2) the fact that in two of three times that the ballet The Nutcracker is mentioned, the main character is called Carla. I don’t know if they were typos or what. The books were written before autocorrect, but perhaps they were not digitized before autocorrect. The correct name is Clara. And, there, my autocorrect did not kick in to try to change the name. Whatever. It was very disconcerting. Otherwise, it was a nice book, but certainly not her best.

No one tells a story with as much heart or flare as Nora Roberts. Her characters and dialog are well thought out and always ring true. She is a master of prose vividly evoking the places where her stories are set, so much so that I can actually see the place in my minds eye. I remember Nick and Ruth from the later "Considering Kate" part of the Stanilaski series. Nice to read their love story.
