3,631 global ratings

For the first time ever in a single boxed set, all of Stephen King’s eight Dark Tower novels—one of the most acclaimed and popular series of all time.

Set in a world of ominous landscape and macabre menace, The Dark Tower series features one of Stephen King’s most powerful creations—The Gunslinger—a haunting figure who embodies the qualities of the lone hero through the ages, from ancient myth to frontier Western legend. As Roland crosses a desert of damnation in a treacherous world that is a twisted image of our own, he moves ever closer to the Dark Tower of his dreams—and nightmares.

This stunning, must-have collection includes: The Dark Tower I: The Gunslinger; The Dark Tower II: The Drawing of the Three; The Dark Tower III: The Waste Lands; The Dark Tower IV: Wizard and Glass; The Dark Tower: The Wind Through the Keyhole; The Dark Tower V: Wolves of the Calla; The Dark Tower VI: Song of Susannah; and The Dark Tower VII: The Dark Tower. The perfect keepsake for Stephen King fans, The Dark Tower 8-Book Boxed Set is the most extraordinary and imaginative cycle of tales in the English language from “the reigning King of American popular literature” (Los Angeles Daily News).

Highly Recommend - Even for non-King Readers

Disclaimer: I am a HUGE Stephen King fan. That being said, I will write this review as non-bias as I can.

Firstly, this series was absolutely incredible. It is not the typical Stephen King read (I.e., the series blends horror, science fiction, western, and thriller). It took me a bit of time to get through (you are definitely signing up for quite the task when purchasing this box set) but I am so happy that I decided to put in the time to read it.

This is definitely a weird one (which is typical Stephen King fashion) and my recommendation would be not to immediately write it off. It is a LONG story with A LOT of moving parts, pieces, and story lines, which will fully blend together to paint a beautiful and incredible plot. The first book is a short, easy read and will leave you wanting more.

Before starting, I read other reviews on this series saying how it was confusing or slow (which arguably can said about any long series at points) and I do not at all agree with these reviews. It can be confusing if you do not pay attention (again, this can be said about any series) and can be "slow" if you are not involved in the elaborate journey being laid out before you (I.e., if you are only focused on the present journey, as opposed to the multiple timelines/worlds/stories all being woven together to paint a complete picture).

This is a must for any SK fan and a recommended read for those wanting to go down on a long, elaborate journey, being drawn in by the multidimensional characters and fantasy worlds.

The pages speed by as Stephen's scary riffs are so unbelievably imagined. What a remarkable mind!

I got it when it was $65

I had my major panic attack 10 months ago, and I am still not the same person, and due to weird symptoms I couldn't look at screens for long so I read the stand , the whole book in just about a month. Then on march 29th, I bought this serious , I have been much better since , but I had bad weeks where I just didn't wanna read , I am now almost half way throw book 6 counting The wind through the key whole . Roland is the hero of this serious and you will want to meet this character in real life if it was possible and tell him thanks for reminding me to remember the face of my father. I was lucky I guess to get the whole series for under 70$ , but I do think it's worth it for over a 100 , there is value here and Stephen king did so well with the characters that I wish they were real, and I wish for a TV series that plays the books perfectly, I would be glued to the TV. There is only one book that is better than this series and it's the King James Bible , seriously, start reading the Dark Tower if you never read it . I can't put how good it is into words.

Bought this series for my husband for Christmas and he loved it. Comes in a box set which I liked especially since it has over half of a dozen books in the series. Would recommend!

Great Set

Bought as a gift for my daughter. Books look great, binding seems to be durable, font is easy to read. Books for snugly in box. Use cardboard pieces included to assist in removing books. I have all the original hardcover copies from this series and think this is a great replacement if you no longer wish to read from the classic originals. If you love the series and would like an update, this is for you. This collection does not include the original illustrations from the hardcovers. Which is fine, I just want to notate it for those who are interested in knowing.

Pleased, But...

Although I rated most of the books in this series as five-star reads, the last two installments were, in my opinion, only worth two stars--mostly because Mr. King interjected himself into the story (as though he couldn't figure out any other way to steer the plot in the necessary direction). As part of the process, he also hawked several other books that don't belong to this series.

Although the writing was good, the plot twist with him as a necessary player, spoiled the wonder of the tale.

superb writing for mediocre storytelling

The Dark Tower series wears down as the books wear on, as King maintains a myopic context without a big picture. His between-book commentaries are more revealing in plot scope than the actual books. I enjoyed the writing but cannot recommend this series because it goes nowhere in a most rambling manner, with some good scenes among many so-what scenes.

I read a lot of science fiction and fantasy. Never read Stephen King before. I can see why he's considered a great writer. From The Dark Tower, I can also see why I'll never read him again.
