For the first time ever, bestselling novelists Jonathan and Faye Kellermen team up to deliver the launch book in a thrilling new series of short crime novels. This book--printed as a reversible volume with two different covers--contains two stories featuring different detectives solving crimes in different cities.

It’s a reader’s dream come true: a new series co-written by the royal couple of crime fiction—Jonathan and Faye Kellerman! Each book contains two novels jointly written by the duo, featuring different detectives solving crimes in different cities. “In the Land of the Giants” has Boston homicide detectives Michael MacCain and Doris Sylvestor investigating the suspicious death of a college basketball star. And in “Still Life,” the co-worker of a Santa Fe art gallery is murdered, forcing detectives Darryl Two Moons and Steve Katz to put aside holiday celebrations and set things right.

I couldn't put this book down. There was so much detail that at times I wanted to skip it, but was too afraid I might miss something important to the solution.

Still Life is a better read.

Still Life could turn into a great series set in NM. In the Land of Giants was not an enjoyable read. The writing styles were different and I preferred the calm style of Still Life, even though murder was at the core. The characters weren't angry and emotional which made for a better reading experience.

I enjoyed Double Homicide. It was easy to read and understand. The two stories were not alike and both good stories.

I did enjoy both novels, but I must admit that they are just good reads for a doctor's waiting room, an airplane, etc. I did like the Boston story a little better, primarily because I could identify with the female officer's concern for her children. She reminded me very much of Lt. Anita Van Buren (S. Epatha Merkerson on Law & Order), and, in fact, I visualized her that way. The denouement was a surprise and yet it was not unfair in the least. The Santa Fe story turned me off a little because of Michael Weems' art. I cannot believe the choice of subjects. I wasn't as fond of the detectives in this story either. However, as I said, the books are fast reading and good for passing time when you're stuck waiting.

A rather unexciting read with very predictable endings,. Always a fan of Jonathan Kellerman but this joint venture leaves much to be desired. Very little excitement, characters are very one dimensional. I will pass on any future joint writings.

I think, perhaps the Kellerman‘s are trying out some new detective pairs for a new series that they want to write together. Both of these stories were more about the detectives solving the crime than the actual crime. Which is the MO of the Kellerman‘s. The problem here is that they spent so much time trying to flesh out the detectives, there’s very little time spent on a crime. it’s more like oh by the way here’s who did it The End
