The extraordinary novel from Queen of Suspense Mary Higgins Clark & Alafair Burke

Five years ago Amanda Pierce was excitedly preparing to marry her college sweetheart. She and Jeffrey had already battled through sickness and health, although their lives were certainly more richer than poorer as Amanda was set to inherit her father's successful garment company.

Then Amanda disappeared the night of her bachelorette party.

In present-day New York City, Laurie Moran realizes a missing bride is the perfect cold case for her Under Suspicion television series to investigate. By recreating the night of the disappearance at the wedding's Florida resort with Amanda's friends and family, Laurie hopes to find the same success solving the cases featured in the series' first episodes. With Amanda's former fiancé now married to a bridesmaid, and a jealous sister, playboy groomsmen, and rumors about the "beloved" bride herself, Laurie and Under Suspicion host Alex Buckley quickly realize everyone has their own theory about why Amanda disappeared into thin air.

One thing is certain, whoever was behind Amanda's vanishing plans to keep the truth hidden "til death do they part"…

All Dressed in White  is another riveting page-turner from the Queen of Suspense Mary Higgins Clark and her dazzling partner-in-crime, Alafair Burke.

Where Is Amanda, the "Runaway Bride?"

Laurie Moran is about to present her ideas for the next case in her Under Suspicion television series when she finds that her assistant Grace has allowed Sandra Pierce to wait for her in her office. After she hears Sandra's story about the disappearance of her daughter Amanda the day before her wedding, she decides that she wants that story to be the next one in the series. After five years, Sandra has not given up hope that Amanda will be found, but, as her husband felt the need to go on with their lives, she divorced him and moved from their Raleigh home to live near her son and granddaughters in Seattle. After contacting the groom-to-be, who has married her best friend about a year later, her siblings, and the other members of the wedding party, they take the show to Palm Beach and the hotel where the wedding was to have been held, accompanied by Laurie's son Timmy and her father, retired detective Leo. They contact the photographer and the man who had been his intern at the time, who had followed members of the party around to take some candid photos which brought some very interesting things to light. . .

As the show progresses with interviews of all the involved parties, some secrets are discovered. Amanda, who had suffered from Hodgkins lymphoma and recovered, had changed when she got well and had had some second thoughts about getting married. And, of course, there is grave danger for someone. However, Amanda's fate is discovered and, for many people, there is a happy ending. For one or two, however, it is more bittersweet. There was one person I wanted to take by the shoulders and shake some sense into!

The book itself is well written with 74 short chapters and an epilogue. It was a very fast read. I couldn't put it down and finished it the day I received it. I'm looking forward to the next Under Suspicion novel. You will enjoy it, I'm sure.

Was she a runaway bride or did something bad happen to her? Was it a stranger or someone she knew? For five years there were no clues until Laurie Moran and her investigative crew of "Under Suspicion" agreed to look at the case. Another well crafted plot with questions and multiple suspects until the very end.

Uninspiring

Twenty-seven-year old Amanda Pierce simply disappears from a Florida resort where she was to be married the next day to Jeffrey Hunter five years ago. The mother Sandra travels from Seattle to NYC unannounced to implore Laurie Moran to put the case on her popular TV show Under Suspicion, which tries to solve cold cases. She’s certain that Jeff has done harm to Amanda to inherent 2 M$.

When the years’ old wedding party and friends gather in Florida at the scene of the disappearance to begin filming, it becomes obvious there are contentions and secrets among them. The question is whether any of it is a motive to do harm.

This is the second in this series; it reads a great deal like the first: quick and easy. The main characters are unchanged: perky Laurie, hunky lawyer Alex, retired father Leo, and her son Timmy. The new characters are mere sketches. Little twists are revealed along the way to tease the reader, but amount to nothing. The ending is hardly inspired.
