That Time I Got Drunk and Yeeted a Love Potion at a Werewolf (Mead Mishaps, 2)

4.5 out of 5

Cheesemaker Brie has the world’s worst luck in love, which is how she ends up falling for a lactose intolerant werewolf, in this raunchy, laugh-out-loud rom-com fantasy by the genre’s freshest new voice, Kimberly Lemming.   Brie’s never been particularly coordinated…or lucky. Who else would accidentally throw a drink at someone’s head only to miss entirely and hit a stranger behind them? And who else would have that stranger fall madly in love with them because it turns out that the drink she threw was a love potion? Yeah, probably just Brie.…   Running her cheese business and dealing with a pirate ship full of demons that just moved into town was hard enough. Now on top of it, she has to convince a werewolf that she’s not really his fated mate. Though even she’s got to admit…having a gorgeous man show up and do all her chores while telling her she’s beautiful isn’t the worst thing to happen to a girl.

Kimberly Lemming

Kimberly Lemming

Kimberly Lemming is on an eternal quest to avoid her calling as a main character. She can be found giving the slip to that new werewolf that just blew into town and refusing to make eye contact with a prince of a far-off land. Dodging aliens looking for Earth booty can really take up a girl's time.

But when she’s not running from fate, she can be found writing diverse fantasy romance. Or just shoveling chocolate in her maw until she passes out on the couch.

Came for the title, stayed for the story

When I first saw this book in my suggestions, I laughed out loud. I thought it was a joke or satire. So obviously I needed to know more. After looking at the series and checking out the reviews, I dove in to the first book and I regret nothing. This book is fantasy and spicy romance and hilarity and adventure and I am here for it. When I say I LOLd, I mean I actually laughed out loud then proceeded to read the scene to my husband so he could laugh too.

I didn’t know what I was missing and now I’m sad that I burned through all three so quickly. Truly a unique and utterly fun series with a kick. 🌶️

A cozy supernatural fantasy

I landed on this series in the middle, and I now have to read about the pirate ship full of demons. I’d compare this book to a snickerdoodle, and I mean that in the nicest way. Sweet, warm, soft, with just a little bit of spice. It lacks the “edginess” of many of the other urban fantasy books I’ve read, and that’s ok. No extreme violence or gore, just some spicy sex scenes. The villians aren’t very bright, and that’s ok. The heroine is believable, and likeable. With all the ugliness in the world right now, it’s nice to enjoy a book like this.

This series is like high fantasy and urban fantasy had a baby with a rom-com. I love this book, series, the whole thing. The author even managed to write sex scenes that didn’t read like they were cut and pasted from a collection of romances. This is the first fm romance that I have read in years that wasn’t boring and repetitive. I even liked the nod to mm omega verse that shows up here. If this is the effect of the author reading both fm and mm romance than more authors need to broaden their reading materials.

It was a lot going on in this one. Felix was adorable and I like that he was almost puppy like in some of his movements. Brie was bad ass, just like cinnamon in the first book. My favorite new character was Alexis. She was absolutely hilarious. The battles were a little hard to follow but as always the sex scenes were fantastic. With an extra slithery surprise 😮

A quick sexy read..🤎

I will say that I really enjoyed this book. After having successfully read Kimberly Lemming‘s first book, I was really excited to read the second one. It was a quick read, which I finished in one day. It was quick to get to the point and the premise of the title and then the Romance writing ensued. It was great. It was sexy. It was engaging and it was just the right amount of plot twist. I would’ve enjoyed reading a little bit more of the romance and banter between the two protagonists. I enjoy the authors sexy reading time. But it was still a good quick read overall I would definitely recommend.

As Cute As The Title

It’s funny. I love the strong female characters and desperately hot sweet demons. Story flows nicely. It’s kind of like the anime’s that have ridiculously long titles and are a little inappropriate. Definitely a good light read. Read it in a day.

Felix & Brie

Book two is about as good as book 1. I loved it! But this time, it's about Cinnamon best friend Brie, who ends up with Felix, a werewolf. However, they end up together cause of a love potion that Brie throws in his direction. Felix declares that Brie is his mate and will prove it. But first they have to solve the case of the missing girls. If you want a happy book with a lot of "SPICE," this is the book, BUT first, go read book 1 Cinnamon story. I'm really hoping that the 3rd installment is about Dante finding his mate 🤞🏽👀.... over all a great read action, spicy, and humor throughout the book, it's a win-win.

Fast story, Likeable characters, easy read

Sometimes you just need a fun story and some steamy scenes to knock you out of a book funk. The Mead Mishap books are a fun easy read and it doesn’t hurt that the MMCs are adorable. Spicy scenes are well written and ABUNDANT although it’s been reaffirmed I’m not a huge fan of the C word and it kinda turns me off how often it was used.

A cute, funny, ridiculously silly fantasy rom-com. This second installment in the mead and mishaps series felt a little less adventurous than the first, but was still lots of fun. It wasn't my favorite thing ever, but I didn't hate it- 2.5 stars
