AN INSTANT  NEW YORK TIMES  **BESTSELLER!

From the acclaimed, #1** New York Times bestselling author of Make Your Bed— a short, inspirational book about the qualities of true, everyday heroes.

THE HERO CODE is Admiral McRaven's ringing tribute to the real, everyday heroes he's met over the years, from battlefields to hospitals to college campuses, who are doing their part to save the world.

When Bill McRaven was a young boy growing up in Texas, he dreamed of being a superhero. He longed to put on a cape and use his superpowers to save the earth from destruction. But as he grew older and traveled the world, he found real heroes everywhere he went -- and none of them had superpowers. None of them wore capes or cowls. But they all possessed qualities that gave them the power to help others, to make a difference, to save the world: courage, both physical and moral; humility; a willingness to sacrifice; and a deep sense of integrity.

THE HERO CODE is not a cypher, a puzzle, or a secret message. It is a code of conduct; lessons in virtues that can become the foundations of our character as we build a life worthy of honor and respect.

I loved the personal stories the Admiral told, and how they illustrated the “Hero Code of each chapter! This book is good for anybody. It can help us find the humble hero inside of all of us! I wish my dad was still alive, so that I could give him this book to read. He served in the Navy, aboard the USS Mugford in World War II. His life affirmed everything Admiral McRaven wrote about! Thank you, Admiral McRaven!

Great read!! I saw an interview on TV (*maybe Ticket C.?? .... can’t recall for sure....). Anyway, the author is genuine, honest and he presents his topic and the point he is making — very, very clear o the reading audience. I give this book a 5 out of 5 star rating. Wonderful. p.s. — as a PAYING AMAZON PRIME MEMBER, I’ve found myself disgusted recently in one of my reviews being “rejected “ for not meeting community guidelines. It was a 2-word review — literally — that said “Great movie” that I posted on a PG-rated movie called “Martian Child,” where John Cusack’s character adopts an orphan. A good 5-star movie that Amazon offers. I am writing this addendum here as a test, andI’ll be surprised (*and disappointed) if this doesn’t get posted or of what I am reviewing gets shot down because the item is perhaps a CONSERVATIVE item. ?? We’ll see.... thank goodness for screenshots and freedom to opine my FEELINGS freely on social media — no law or liable or slander against that. Anyway, hopefully this will review on “Hero Code” will indeed be posted, and hopefully many of you will take to heartfelt and honest recommendation of this book. And. I hope you all enjoy it. Thanks in advance.

This is a collection of short stories that exemplify each of the elements of what William McRaven calls "The Hero Code". Elements like "courage" and "duty" are showcased in personal stories that McRaven has taken from his career and shared with us in this inspiring and sometimes heart-wrenching look at what it takes to be a hero.

This book reminds me of John F. Kennedy's book, "Profiles in Courage". People from all over the world and all walks of life are highlighted in this book and their stories won't be lost to time.

McCraven does a wonderful job of exemplifying the elements of the Hero Code while putting the spotlight on those he's come in contact with that have inspired him to embrace those characteristics. Read this book and be inspired!
