The Lost Tower: A Nicole Rayburn Historical Mystery Book 4 (Nicole Rayburn Historical Mysteries)

4.5 out of 5

When Nicole visits Stiles Castle, the stately home of Lady Caroline Seaton, she doesn’t expect to stumble upon a centuries-old mystery hidden in the noble family’s genealogical tree. Once she finds that some vital details have been removed from the ancestral records, Nicole can’t refuse her friend’s plea to discover the truth and help her save the floundering family business.

Unearthing the origins of Caroline’s elusive Tudor ancestor proves trickier than Nicole anticipated, but the ancient secrets that are revealed are just as incendiary as the decades-old lies that a simple DNA test has exposed within Nicole and Kyle’s own family.

Will this be the case that changes their lives forever?

A fan indeed

I really like this line of historical mysteries. It would seem a lot of thought went into how life was then, especially for females. I really appreciate that effort. When I would do my ancestry too many people couldn't wrap their heads around ways of the past, therefore not fully comprehending what probably really happened all too often. While researching your ancestors is interesting and somewhat informative , the truth you find may not be the whole truth.

5 stars for a realistic mystery

This was a great read! The mystery was enthralling, and the characters felt real. You could feel the fear and smell the sea. Another great book in the series! I'm a little annoyed that I have to wait until September to get the next book!

I never want this series to end!!!

I never want this series to end. I need her to keep writing this till the end of time. Seriously if she ever announces the end of this series I might need to take a few days off of work mourn. Waiting for a new book is like waiting to see an old friend. You can't wait to see them, you enjoy the time, but it's over so quickly. I always like to imagine how their lives were after. And this book was a special treat to see a very headstrong no holds bar woman in a time when women weren't really. It's so refreshing to have her write women who, would have honestly existed, but nobody writes women in that time with this idea of knowing anything other than I should just serve my husband and be done with it. The women in her books have a mind and they show that even though history has told us that women were okay with their position of being wife and serving their husband, many said no I want more!!!

in one of the twistiest stories of deception and family yet, Irina Shapiro amazes once again with her creative and historical genius. I have such admiration for the depth of her imagination. She is a prolific writer, and somehow keeps coming up with great stories.

Best of All by Irina Shapiro!!

This book is by far the best of the Nicole Rayburn series, and quite likely the best book written by Irina Shapiro! There is never a dull moment, and the 14 year old heroine, Kate, is absolutely brilliant. As with all of the Nicole Rayburn stories, right wins over might - yet the reader is, up until the very end, completely unsure as how this will happen. "One should never underestimate the powers of a teenage girl", the Vicar Jonah says to Nicole over dinner, near to the end of this mystery, and we readers are fully on board at this point - yet it's not until her last decisions that we truly appreciate the bravery of Kate. I shall not say more, for fear of giving too much away - except for warning the reader not to begin this novel until they have the time to finish it - as this is truly the book that you cannot put down. Wonderful!!

Good storyline.

Good story but this author tends to have characters without parents or doesn't know who their parents are. She has this theme in several of her books. Odd.

Another good story

First off, this one was spicier than the others. I personally could have done without the descriptions of those interactions. I feel the author was using it to highlight the differences between the male characters, but it was still not pleasant for me to read. Other than that, the story was very interesting.

Good read

It was a good read and had a decent plot line. I would have liked a little more focus on the historical side, but definitely worth the read.
