My Dark Romeo: An Enemies-to-Lovers Romance (Dark Prince Road)

4.3 out of 5

37,046 global ratings

My fairy tale turned into a cautionary one. Inked in tar and sealed in tears.

From Wall Street Journal bestsellers L.J. Shen and Parker S. Huntington comes an explosive marriage of inconvenience...between a tarnished Romeo and a reluctant Juliet.

It was supposed to be a harmless kiss at a lavish debutante ball. A clandestine moment with a handsome stranger.

But unlike his namesake, my Romeo isnā€™t driven by love. Heā€™s fueled by revenge.

To him, Iā€™m a chess piece. Leverage. His rivalā€™s betrothed.

To me, he is a man deserving of poison. A dark prince I refuse to marry.

He thinks Iā€™ll accept my fate. Well, I plan to rewrite it.

And in my story, Juliet doesnā€™t die. But Romeo? He perishes.

Authorsā€™ Notes: My Dark Romeo is a standalone reluctant arranged marriage romance between a cruel billionaire heir and a feisty heiress unafraid to fight back. It is set in the decadent Dark Prince Road world.

Book Review My Dark Romeo Book 1 By Parker S Huntington & L.J.Shen Kindle book

Marriage on convenience Revenge KU Dark Romance Trigger Warnings Playlist- songs I picked for the bookšŸ˜‰ ( Taylor swift- end game) (Hate me)- Ingredid Michleson (Intoxicated)- Warren Zeiders Buddy read Enemies to Lovers Age gap Arranged marriage Spicy Forced proximity

This book was a bit slow in the beginning. But it got so much better! I've read a lot of Enemies to Lovers books over the years, but this book covers the trope Amazingly. I laughed, I cried. These charcaters wereĀ  complete opposites, and they fought, yelled, called each other names, and gave each other the silent treatment. It kept me on edge. Then, towards the end, the plot twist had me hanging on the edge of my seat!!! I don't wanna spoil anything. Bit if you have been thinking about reading this and putting it off. Pick up and just DIVE right in! Hang in there... everything will piece together, and you want to regret it!

Wasnā€™t sure WHAT to expect!

Nowadays, I can't go right into a book by Shen and say, "oh yeah, I know EXACTLY what I'm going to get and its going to be epic!" Whelp, now, for her last TWO books, I've been blown away, just like the beginning days and I was so happy about it! Ā  Ā Yes, it started out dark with the men oppressively hating women but morphed into something real and rich over the course of the book.Ā  It was a slow burn and the build up made me fall that much more in love with it.Ā  With having read a few books by Huntington (who is an amazing writer herself) I could tell (well, I think so at least) who wrote what and that was fun too! Parker seems to write books where her H respects the h a bit more than Shens more recent books but still have a heck of a backbone and doesn't take crap.Ā  We got a good blend here and it made this book magical. Ā  Ā  I loved how we got to peelĀ back the layers of both characters and how they seemed to have absolutely NOTHING in common only to discover they both have fierce determination and dogged steadfastness, not allowing anything to get in the way of what they wanted.Ā  That right there was the foundation of this union and it blossomed into a thing of beauty. The , of course, we have those infamous stĆ«amy scenes! šŸ˜®ā€šŸ’Øthose bad boys were straight up unapologetically raunchy! šŸ˜I even had to clutch my metaphorical pearls a time or two and THATS saying something! For the actual act to not even be the end game of the smĆ«xy times this made it that much more naĆ¼ghty in my opinion! These two were šŸŒ¶ļøšŸ’¦šŸ„µšŸ”„HOT without a doubt. Yeah, these authors know how to light it up for sure!! Ā  Ā  I have mixed feelings about the secondary characters and will wait to see how their stories pan out in the next few books to fully make a judgement but I did like them, they were fun and brought some laughter to the story for sure! But also have the potential to go the crazy route too (and who says that's a bad thing)??Ā Ā  Ā  Ā  All in all, this was a great read and even greater listen. I first heard the narrator Jacob Morgan in my 1st Parker S. Huntington book and have followed him since.Ā  I LOVE his voice, just YUM!Ā  Stella Hunter is also one of my favorites.Ā  She gives great inflection and draws you deeper into the story she makes you feel part of it. These 2 together?Ā  Wow, made for an amazing, hit AF read.Ā  Its such a relief when authors get the right narrators to pair with their books!Ā  These 2 were spot on in this case and you will be grateful for it if you chose to listen!Ā  I did a little bit of both (read & listen) as I like to listen when I'm driving too! Can't wait to see what happens next!

Really enjoyed this book, great story and even better banter, I found myself laughing and getting emotional was definitely a roller coaster. I couldnā€™t put this book down! I loved the mmc and mfc but i always find that my fav characters arenā€™t the main ones and I love that the author gave other characters in this book their own books (my dark desire, my dark prince). I HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

I LOVE THIS BOOK

My entire heart!!

The amount of love I have for this book cannot be described. I didnā€™t want it to end, and I read it as quick as Dallas can eat an entire cake.

Itā€™s such a great book! Dallas and Romeo are so great and they just work in the most funny yet best way possible. Theyā€™re polar opposites but from the moment they met down to the last page, their chemistry was so undeniable. I can go on and on about my love for them, but Iā€™ll save that for another time! My Dark Romeo is seriously a must read, I couldnā€™t put it down!

Even the side characters were spectacular.

One thing really I loved about this book was that Romeo has a personality! Weird, but itā€™s true. In so many other books the grump usually never does, and Romeo was HILARIOUS. So was Dallas, I couldnā€™t stop laughing and giggling the entire time.

This is one of my favorite books, and it just so happened to be by two of my favorite authors. Please read this book immediately you wonā€™t regret it.

Also Romeo is such a romantic, who wouldā€™ve thought! As Oliver and Zach said, ā€œp*ssy whipped.ā€ Heā€™s so whipped in the best way possible like he built an entire library house just because she wanted one. Iā€™ll never not think of that scene šŸ˜

Loved Romeo and Dallas aka Shortbread!!!

I absolutely LOVED this book!! The banter between Romeo and Dallas and Romeo and his dudes is top notch HILARIOUS!!! Romeo is such an A Hole!! Omg šŸ¤¦šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø but we learn as we get further along thereā€™s a good reason for his behavior. Dallas is amazing and definitely Romeoā€™s equal when it comes to well basically everything! Sheā€™s so witty and good hearted! The spice is good not over done or drawn out for pages upon pages so I enjoyed that a lot Some authors just think spicy scenes need to go on and on and on in actuality it gets old real quick. I HAVE to have spice in my books so Iā€™m not a prude about it, I just feel sometimes less is more. The dialogue is so good and very realistic and not stilted or awkward at all. I love me some awesome dialogue and banter and this book has it spades!!! I laughed out loud a lot. I rarely give 5 stars anymore Iā€™ve been reading for a very very long time so thereā€™s quiet a few boxes that need ticking for me to be ok with leaving a 5 star review and this story achieved that by miles! Good job ladies well done and keep up writing together I throughly enjoyed Romeo & Dallas and company!!

This was highly recommended on TikTok and for once Iā€™m glad I listened. This is a great slow-burn enemies to lovers story that kept me entertained and interested from the start. The banter felt natural (and props for the One Direction/Olivia Wilde mentions). Overall this is a steamy, good read that I devoured within one night.

SPOILER FREE REVIEW This book was pretty good, I liked Romeo's character and the way he was written a lot. I didn't like the main character very much, though, which knocked this book's rating down. She's not very interesting, and quite annoying at times. It's rare that I read a book and not like the character whose perspective the book is written from. I feel like Romeo was extremely well written and the small changes in his demeanor leading up to the end of the book are subtle but easy to pick up on towards the end of the book. I liked Romeo's friends a lot and the way he's more relaxed with them throughout the book. I did, however, find the basic plot of the story to be just that- basic. A rude rich guy marries a hot, but annoying woman because of his enemy and then falls in love with her. A lot of books are written with this basic plot, but they add to it, making it more interesting and less cliche. Take King of Wrath, same basic storyline, but the author added so much to both main characters that the book was impossible to put down. I think the author of this book was so focused on Romeo's character that she forgot about the main character. She simply made the main annoying, with no depth. She's like a beautiful pool that looks full of promise, then you try to jump in and it's only a few inches deep. Also, the smut is awful. It's poorly written, and downright weird in some chapters. I don't usually read much of it anyway, I usually just skip, but I noticed that some of the scenes the author wrote are just weird and grossed me out. I think the author could do so much with this book if she added more depth to the main and the plot, and took out some of the poorly written inappropriate scenes.
