In 1782, a ghost ship ran aground in a secluded cove in Cornwall. To this day, no one knows what became of the Aurora’s crew or the shadowy woman rumored to be onboard.

In 2021, when Kyle inherits his aunt’s historic house in Cornwall, all Nicole anticipates is a few idyllic days in a beautiful setting—until she discovers that not only is the house connected to the centuries-old legend of the Aurora and the woman at the center of the mystery, but it also hides its own dark past.

As Kyle and Nicole delve deeper into the unexplained disappearance of the crew, they unearth secrets both old and new, along with truths that could alter the shape of their own family in ways they never expected.

Once again Ms. Shapiro delivers historical fiction with more twists, turns, and heart. Her characters struggle with moral decisions, knowing that actions have consequences.

This was a great story! I love the fact that the MC is an author and that it shows how she goes about finding her ideas and the historical records to back it up. I'm not happy about what is going on with the character Len but that is to be expected.

An interesting dual time story.

I really enjoyed this novel. The main 21st century characters, Nicole and Kyle, and the 18th Century characters Ellie and Gabriel were very likeable and relatable.

Interesting details about Cornwall and its notorious smuggling. There was a mystery and it took the reader right to the end. I will definitely read the next novel from this author.

Nicole and Kyle’s life continues to be full of mystery and love. The story for this her third book involves smuggling, the disappearance of an entire crew from a sailing ship, and the near miraculous survival of a family. A happy ending in the past and present stories? Yes, but both are well - plotted and richly deserved.

I enjoyed this book more than book two. I loved reading about Ellie and Gabriel’s love journey. The fact that Gabriel was a captain of a ship was even better. I enjoyed the current storyline with Nicole and Kyle. Although, I was drawn to the past storyline more.

Ok, but not a big fan of this series

I usually devour Irina Shapiro books and generally love every single one. Quite frankly, the more I read of the Nicole Rayburn series, the more I realize I can't stand Nicole Rayburn and her husband Kyle. They're pretty lame and boring thus falling flat as characters and I like them less and less with each successive book in the series.

I enjoyed the part about the pirates. Interesting history.

I'm sick to death of references to the "pan*****". You know, that thing of which if a person might mention that fails to support the official narrative thus causing one to be censored? That in and of itself tells you everything you need to know about the subject.
