From internationally bestselling author and TikTok phenom Raven Kennedy comes the second book in a stunning fantasy series inspired by the myth of King Midas, perfect for fans of Sarah J Maas and Jennifer L Armentrout.

For ten years, I've lived in a gilded cage inside King Midas's golden castle. But one night changed everything.

Now I'm here, a prisoner of Fourth Kingdom's army, and I'm not sure if I'm going to make it out of this in one piece. They're marching to battle, and I'm the bargaining chip that will either douse the fire or spark a war.

At the heart of my fear, my worry, there's him―Commander Rip.

Known for his brutality on the battlefield, his viciousness is unsurpassed. But I know the truth about what he is.

Fae.

The betrayers. The murderers. The ones who nearly destroyed Orea, wiping out Seventh Kingdom in the process. Rip has power sizzling beneath this skin and glinting spikes down his spine. But his eyes―his eyes are the most compelling of all.

When he turns those black eyes on me, I feel captive for an entirely different reason.

I may be out of my cage, but I'm not free, not even close. In the game of kings and armies, I'm the gilded pawn. The question is, can I out maneuver them?

Well the plot keeps twisting & thickening. I love it. It also twists your emotions this way & that. I feel like Auren deserves a break, get my girl a kind, honest man & let her chill. Anyways, loving the way the story unravels!

Tropes/CW: Dark Fantasy Romance, Retelling (King Midas), Abuse, Captivity, Toxic Relationship, Emotional Abuse, Enemies to Lovers, Slow-Burn

Second book in this amazing series and it continues to be fantastic. We get Auren out of her comfort zone and way from Midas. She's been abused for the last 10 years and definitely has some stockholm syndrome going on, with self-doubt and really just needs a bunch of therapy.

In this book, Auren finally starts to break free of her mental cage and starts to get her wings under her. She doesn't get completely over what has been years of abuse quickly, and some people might find that frustrating, but it's realistic. You don't just snap out of it after years of conditioning and self-blaming.

Commander Rip, our MMC, oh is he a treat. He knows how to help Auren while tiptoe-ing the fine line between tough love and coddling, which is exactly what she needs. His Wrath are great secondary characters as well, who aren't one-dimensional and continue to develop throughout this book (and beyond).

Writing continues to be fantastic, we get more and more worldbuilding and character development. Things are pretty fast-paced and I didn't get bored once. The tale just keeps on spinning and it's a beautiful journey.

Rating: ★★★★☆ (4/5 stars)

Glint by Raven Kennedy is a fantastic continuation of the series, significantly improving upon the foundation laid by its predecessor. This book picks up the pace and ramps up the adventure, making it a much more engaging read.

One of the standout features of "Glint" is the dual POV, which adds depth and richness to the narrative. The introduction of new characters injects fresh energy into the story, creating a dynamic and compelling ensemble. Meeting Commander Rip was a highlight, and the mystery surrounding King Rot added an intriguing layer of suspense.

Auren's character development is particularly noteworthy in this installment. It's gratifying to see her step into her own, growing and evolving in response to the challenges she faces. The plot is well-crafted, maintaining a perfect balance of tension and excitement, which keeps readers hooked from start to finish.

Overall, Glint is a marked improvement over the first book, addressing its slower pace and building a more thrilling and captivating story. The character development, plot progression, and introduction of new elements make this a must-read for fans of the series. I'm excited to see where the story goes next!

Somehow this one felt like even more of an intro book than the first one. I understand we are plot/world-building but seems to just be going slower. Would prefer more action. I do appreciate how the main character is starting to come into her own. But it took until the entire end of book 2 for her to realize how toxic her relationship was. Two whole books is a long time for an awakening. Now I feel like we are finally getting somewhere at the end of book 2.
