Reese (Pack of Misfits)

4.5 out of 5

Five years ago, I saw something I shouldn’t have.

Ominous, right? But what really sucks is I got caught. I’ve been trapped as my animal ever since, hidden away and forced to stay shifted and silent.

Until one day, when I get brought to a pet shop where a shifter recognizes me for what I really am and brings me to her pack. A really friggen weird pack.

I need to get out of here.

But then I see him—the male wearing the chain around his neck. Maybe it’s his scent or his shiny stuff that draws me in. Either way, I’m going to bite him so good…just as soon as he stops fighting me off.

Surprisingly, this pack is starting to look a lot less weird and a lot more like home. Too bad the shadows of my past are hunting me down for ratting them out. Life isn't easy as a new misfit, but it is worth the fight.

Author's note: This is book 2 in the Pack of Misfits series and is not a reverse harem story. Each book will have a different mate dynamic. Every story is a stand-alone, but it is best if you start with Addie's book. Intended for mature audiences 18 years and older.

Okay. I usually only reserve this compliment for the crazy ones, but Luca is THE BEST mate! Seriously. I don't think he could have been more perfect.

I laughed so hard through this whole book that my kids and husband came to check on me a few times because I was laughing so much. Reese was hilarious! And her rat. I definitely want to see more of them in the future stories from this pack!

There is just something about these misfits that I LOVE. Book two in the series is about Luca and Reese.

Spoilers-

At first when I started reading these books I was like really? It’s about a duck? I had the same feelings as I started reading book 2. Seriously, its about a Rat? I swear I didn’t get more then 5-10 pages in before I was hooked on her story and couldn’t wait to devour the rest of the book. Reese and her sticky fingers and Luca and his big.... ummm wingspan. Very sexy read.

This book was just as amazing as the first book and if you haven’t read it yet I really recommend that you read it first even though they are both stand alone. The mate bonds are what I love love love about these books. The characters are amazing, The puns are fantastic, and I can’t wait to read about more of the misfit pack!

Here’s to hoping we get to see a match for Hugo in the future!

Cheese and crackers this was ducking hilarious!!!

Overall Rating:🦆🐹🐒🦩 🦥 Kindle Unlimited: YES

Boy howdy, I thought that Addie’s book was funny. Raven Kennedy kicked the funny factor up a notch in this book! Raven always makes me laugh and is always original, but this book had me crying from laughter!!

Reese is an unusual shifter that has had a hard life. She is skittish and is honestly scared of people and for good reason. But once again the Pack Aberrant is there to welcome her into the fold with friendship and a misfit family. Reese meets Luca and is instantly infatuated 🥰, but she sure does have a funny way of showing it.

This story was perfect! I loved all the characters (well except Sid and Rick Dick), I loved the storyline, I thought this book was hilarious, I got my HEA, and did I mention it was hilarious! I am not going to spoil anything...not hinting at what the characters are because that’s the fun of these books, the shifters will reveal themselves when they are ready!

Do I recommend? YES!!!! A thousand times yes! You would be quackers to miss this!!! Will I continue to read? You better ducking believe it!!! Don’t miss out on this very original series and start reading today! You won’t be disappointed!

Reese’s story as the second Pack of Misfits book takes place just a few weeks after the conclusion of Addie’s story from book 1. It is a standalone but you’ll definitely get more out of the story if you’ve read Addie and Addie’s story is amazing so there’s that too. Reese’s background is awful and heart wrenching but her approach to being rescued and joining a new pack were heartwarming. It took her time to adjust but she was still there, chugging along. I also feel because of the type of abuse she dealt with, her growth in the book felt greater. Reese’s guy is amazing, incredible, fantastic and all these great words. I adored him! My most recent reads before this have been slightly heavier books and Reese has sad parts but overall is a more lighthearted, fun, and sexy read so this really hit the spot for me with it’s refreshing ness. I enthusiastically recommend Reese and I’m so excited to meet more shifters as this series continues!

Hit the spot

I’ve loved the misfits since day one, so I was very excited to read the second installment. It was definitely worth it. It hit the spot and gave me all the feels as typical with anything Raven writes. I adore Luca and his personality. He’s an easy book hottie to fall in love with. I was However surprised when we got to find out what animal he was! Very exciting. And I couldn’t picture Reese as any other animal. Raven has a special talent of bringing characters alive and giving you many ways to love them and most importantly remember them. I loved that Addie and her three hunks were back for some side love and I still love them so much. If you’re questioning whether to read this series... or any book from Raven, then let me help you out by saying just do it! You won’t regret it! She’s a wonderful author with amazing characters inside every book.

Funny, sexy and sweet, what more could you want?

-M/F -Shifters -possible triggers (captivity) -steamy as hell -standalone within a series

I have to say I’m really loving this Pack of Misfits! Each book is about a different couple. What I love about this ragtag shifter pack, is their loyalty. They all have heart wrenching back stories and even though that should make them not trust people, or fearful of others, they’ve found a pack that they can put their utter loyalty into. They would tare the world down to protect one of their own.

This book revolves around Reese and Luca. Reese is a pack rat who has been in captivity for a very long time, stuck in her rat form. She’s saved by our Pack of Misfits where she meets Luca. Of course, when she first arrives she’s scared to pieces and trusts no one, but her rat immediately forms a liking for Luca and it’s so cute watching his reactions to the cute little mousey. It’s also hilarious as hell reading about Reese in her rat form, her love of stealing shiny objects for her nest. This really was a fun, hilarious and sexy read with just enough angst. I love that we get to see Addie and her mates from book 1 and I can’t wait to read about the hard-hearted Jetta in the next book. Definitely worth the read.

fabulous addition to the series

I love reece's mouse - I mean, majestic rat. love how she stole from luca over and over. my favorite was at the beach when she took his socks and reese woke up hugging them. and the mating dance off! I died.

what I am loving about this author is that she writes mature situations. and I am not talking about the sex scenes. their actions and reactions, the way the characters deal with everything. it's refreshing to have characters who don't suddenly revert to stupid adolescents whenever there is a speed bump. case in point, how reese deals with susie. at first, I thought she was going to be set up as a mean girl stereotype, being nasty and sabotaging reese and luca's romance. probably using her jealousy to make her a bad guy, betraying the pack to turn reese over to the mongeese. that seems to be the norm in books lately (not the mongeese, obviously, but you get my point). instead, thank goodness, we are dealing with adults who resolve problems in a mature way.

I also love how addy is still making her mates work for it from the first book. the author was consistent with them, not just throwing addy's resolve out as soon as her book was over. she's letting the relationship grow as it should after the rocky start. awesome.

the reason for the one star deduction is because of the big fight at the end. I felt it was pretty rushed and not as well done as the rest of the book. it was to be a pretty big confrontation, but it was rather glossed over. not a huge deal, because reese had already dealt with her villain, but I felt it could have been better there.

overall, it was a great story with lots of feels and humor, but with deeper issues as well. reese's time as the rat was so great. her fear of not being able to join the pack because she wasn't well enough to fight or even a good enough fighter to win even at her best was well done. I love how she bit Hugo when she couldn't decide what to do. good stuff.

loving the series. looking forward to more.

Addictive!

Last night and early this morning I read the first book in this series and immediately set an alarm for this morning to begin book 2 in the series. I am a teacher on summer break and can actually read for enjoyment right now. I started this book around 9 am and finished it by 1pm. Even with a Starbucks run in between chapters. This book was a quick and fun read!

Book 2 starts not long after the first book in the series. It has some of the same background characters, aka pack mates, but this one is focused on another member of the pack. We are introduced to Reese in this story after she was taken to the pet store that Addie (from the first book) works at. Her animal is not a secret in this book because it is the driving force of this book. Reese is a pack rat that was forced to stay in her animal form. I will not give everything away but this was discussed early on in the book and in part, in the book summary, and her ‘rat’ mentality is a lot of this book.

I am normally not a fan of the rodent species but she is cute. Hearing how her mind works in this book and the actions that she takes as a rat, guide her interactions with the people around her. She develops a fondness for “Lug nut,” and he in turn, leaves her shiny presents as a way of connecting with her. This also helps her to not fear those around her.

The relationship dynamic between the two main characters was so sweet but also spicy. Raven Kennedy knows how to write! Her characters are hilarious and you connect with each of them. I personally cannot wait to read the next in the series and hope that you get to see more from them in the future.

This book was hilarious, spicy, and a fun read. I set an alarm this morning so that I could start this book right away. This is a book that you will want to finish right away.

I am not a fan of the star ranking system because my opinion and rankings are not the same as others. I highly recommend this book to others. Please note that this is an adult book and it does have spice. @ravenkennedybooks if you ever need an extra early reader, I’m your girl! Huge fan!

I'm conflicted about this

I like the whole pack aberrant concept and this installment fit in well. The MC were well crafted and the rat was funny as hell. So what was my problem? I think that for a book so heavily focused on the sex scenes I found a lot of the discriptions gag worthy. Sorry but slurping, dribbling and copious amounts of escaping body fluids are not sexy in my mind. I Also found it kind of weird that first in the sanctuary and then in the hut somebody dumped the people going through a confusing out of control physical process in a remote location and then didn't come back to check on them at all. That is really strange. I hope the next story is this series is better because I do like Ravens work and writing.
