Signs of Cupidity: A Fantasy Reverse Harem Story (Heart Hassle)

I’m going to find my own true love even if it kills me.

You'd think being in charge of love would be an epic job, right?

Wrong.

Sure, I’m a cupid, so I can blow Lust into people's faces and watch the show, but I can't actually participate. It gets old, trust me. Same goes for love. I can pass it out like sugar-free lollipops at a dentist's office, but I can't get any for myself.

I'm stuck in this never-ending afterlife where I'm invisible, lonely, and bitter. And yeah, I'm probably responsible for some terrible matchmaking out there. But can you blame a girl?

Apparently, my cupid bosses can, because I get exiled to the fae world. And while I’m here, I accidentally attack a fae prince with Love Arrows. But hey, he deserved it.

What I didn't expect was for him to retaliate, and that I’d be pushed into the physical realm.

That's right. This cupid just got a real body. And you know what that means. Now, it's my turn to get some.

Love, I mean. Wink, wink.

Author's Note: This is a slow-burn why choose fae-fantasy romcom, where the FMC will end up with multiple mates. It includes explicit language and sexual situations. Intended for audiences 18 years and older. This series is complete.

What can I say, i love a reverse harem. I also love a unique world, quirky characters, and lighthearted books with pretty low stakes but a fun ride. DISCLAIMER: very different from Raven Kennedy's Plated Prisoner series.

What a great book just in time for Valentines Day! Which was the main reason why I wanted to read it. I needed a good Valentine’s Day Romance and when I typed that into the search engine of the Kindle App, this was one of the books that showed up. Imagine my excitement when I found out it’s a four book series and a RH!

I absolutely loved this book! It was addicting from the first sassy comment that came out of the main character mouth. And her attitude starts early in the book. Love it!

ML is the main character and she starts as being Cupid in the human world. She wanted to be Cupid to spread love and happiness but humans had let her down with the cheating and betrayal that some humans have a tendency to do. ML is invisible and has no physical contact with anyone or anything and shoots love arrows and uses her magic to help people fall in love who already have a spark to work from. However, she is then cast out of the human world and into a world with faes (name of land is lost on me at the moment). There she is assigned to be Cupid of that place and she ends up making it her mission to strengthen the love between the prince and his betrothed on this world/land. Some stuff happens that I won’t give away and then ML is cast out of her invisible state and into the physical world. There, in the physical world, she leaves the prince and his betrothed and stumbles upon three delicious men that turn her world upside down. ML can now do the things she has been yearning for. She can now eat delicious food, see her reflection, experience feelings that she never experienced like pain. But the most important is that ML can now touch and feel and be felt in return. Maybe she can even fall in love.

(Please keep in mind this is the way that I remember the book and I obviously left out parts to not give away parts of the book. I hope my review helps you make a good choice. You won’t be sorry).

I loved this book. I highly recommend. A new favorite author of mine. Bravo Raven Kennedy. There was NOTHING about this book I didn’t like. Seriously. It was amazing!

Such a unique and creative story about a Cupid and the Fae realm. I haven’t read very many series involving Cupid so this was refreshing to read. Everything about the storyline and plot is unique. It was a little slow of a start for me and I really didn’t get sucked in until about the 5th chapter. After that, I couldn’t put the book down. I am anxious to see what happens with the culling and the douche bag Fae Prince. I hope we see more of the Princess too because my heart really broke for her.

Emelle was a fun character to read especially from her POV. She’s snarky, funny, and seductive when she needs to be. Her social skills and her experiences with real life situations had me laughing multiple times throughout this book. The sexual tension between her and the 3 genfin she is hiding out with is through the roof. I can’t wait for the heat to ramp up as the series continues because I know it will be hot AF! The 3 men she is stuck with all have very differing personalities that definitely stands out among each other so there wasn’t any issue with confusing the characters.

The author has definitely taken a lot of time to really convey her ideas into the pages and it has worked out wonderfully. Everything is detailed and there seems to be no continuity errors. I am glad I started this series when it was completed because now I don’t have to wait 😁😁

Love the characters especially Emelle and her personality. The author makes you both love and a lttle bit annoyed with the character. However the character growth is amazing and im definitely going to be buying the series.

Was not disappointed after hearing all about this series!

I had heard a lot about this series and was happy to see it was good like they said! I enjoyed the concept of this series, it was adorable play on cupid but then had some BA males and other creatures to back it up. I like how it was fantasy but not long winded in terms of the plot. We get thrown right into it with Emelle going up against the baddie in the first book and has to deal with the ramifications of the magic she was hit with. I will say I felt for her right away with her loneliness at being a Cupid and not being able to interact with anyone. Always helping others fine love but not having that connection with anyone or just being able to talk or touch someone. I think that is why I liked Emelle so much. I liked her quirks and mostly cheery attitude despite everything she has dealt with in her cupid lifetime.

I liked the different men in this story (not the prince...like ew haha) and I was interested to see how they would treat Emelle after she crashed on their island. They each have their own reaction/treatment of her which I liked, kept it interesting especially one who was funny/flirty but then had some crazy mood swings haha. I liked how they each let her in in their own time, some more stubborn than others. I loved the different facets of the guys, even the mean/moody one. I enjoyed the training the genfin (no clue if I am spelling that right since I listened to all the books on audio haha) gave Emelle, the other side characters she met to try and get what she needed for the event at the end of the book. The plot was great. I was sorta surprised it was a super slow burn to be honest. I have already finished the first 3 books so I can say now it was paced well but when I was listening I felt like I had total lady blue balls hahaha.

Some parts of the story were slow for me (not because of the lack of steam) and I wasn't feeling forced to continue listening like I do with books I rate 5 stars (like I could put it down and not be itching to listen back right away). I did enjoy this and listened to the rest in the same week. Would recommend for a more light-hearted story with some laughs.

In terms of the audio, I have listened to this narrator before and she was just as good as I remembered. She did a great job with Emelie's snark and quirks. I wish this had been duet or dual to get the genfin's their awesomeness they deserved but the narrator did a good job anyway with their different personalities.

4.5 Stars!

Really wish Amazon allowed you to give half stars!

I will begin by saying that I am not a fan of these harem / reverse harem novels. The inner workings of my mind tell me that these just don't work out or make any sense. Too many gaps to allow an author to have one ditzy and poorly written main female character with a whole bunch of alpha males jockeying for possession of her heart. Too much fluff and not enough meat on the bones of the book.

However... I caved for this novel. What caught my eye was the astoundingly earned 5 star average. Sounded to good to be true but I took the bait. And boy did I like this one.

The author introduced us into a fantasy world with a character that is genuinely funny, amusing, sweet, and sensible (most of the time). She is a bit shallow but it is believable as she hasn't had human to human interaction for quite some years. She's a lone unicorn in the vast and empty world of hers. But then the author swirls you down into a vortex into ANOTHER fantasy world that fits right into the original setting. A fantasy world setting into another fantasy world setting.

Enter in the 3 main male companions to our main character. This is where I almost cringed but I told myself, just keep reading. We got this far and the journey thus has been good. All 3 of the covey members have distinct personalities that shape themselves as individuals as you read through this novel. No cookie cutting here. It's very believable and their witty banter exchanged between them adds depth. The author has done a fantastic job of bringing together 3 alpha males that are different in looks and personality. This could have gone sideways real quick.

The plot developed through this story leaves you wanting more. As you read on and find out more, you can't help but fall for all the characters, flaws and all.

If you are iffy like I was about diving into the realm of reverse harem's, I think this is a great book to pick up and read. The main character does have a lot of silly inner monologues so if you take issue with that in novels then download a sample of the book as it gives you a good enough idea of what to expect. If you like all sorts of alpha male characteristics and some loving ones as well, you will absolutely fall in love with the 3.

I've already purchased the 2nd novel and I am making my way through it : )

Edit: Someone left a review stating this is a ripoff of the Four Psychos Novel. I purchased that book, read a bit, and promptly returned it. I have also left a review there with more information as to why I hastily returned that trash.

She’s a Cupid, a number with no name, who finds herself assigned to the fae lands. Incorporeal, and looking to make the fae fall in love or lust, she works her job unseen, and unheard. Unfortunately, she gets herself in trouble when trying to work her Cupidly whiles on a fae Prince, which ends up in her formerly incorporeal form turning decidedly solid. An encounter with three unusual fae, who are definitely on her want to kiss list, might just be the thing a lonely Cupid is looking for!

The book was a fairly quick read, with a why choose romance (a bit slower burn than some) that has us meeting several intriguing heroes, and features a shameless Cupid as the heroine. This was a fun, comedic romantasy, which definitely had me giggling at times, especially at the various problems our Cupid encountered. It’s an enjoyable tale, and one the RH romantasy fans will more than likely find themselves enjoying a bit of a laugh over.

I loved this book so much!!! To be honest, I wasn't expecting that much from the book, but it blew me away. Emelle is such a funny character. When I first started reading I wasn't so sure about her, I mean she is really weird (in the best way), but when I stopped and thought about it I realized that of course she's going to be weird. She has only had herself to talk to for almost 60 years. That's going to cause someone to have a different sense of humor. This cupid had me laughing so much in parts of the book. Her sarcasm is top tier.

The three men in this book are amazing. Ronak is the grumpy alpha of the group. Then you have Sylred, who is the sweetheart of the group and he tries to keep the peace. And last, but certainly not least is Evert. He is the flirty bad boy that has no problem showing his interest in Emelle.

There is really no spice in this book, which I was happy about so we can really see this group dynamic form before adding spice to it (but it will come and when it does its going to be hot). I think the plot of the book is so unique and there really isn't any slow points of the book. I can't wait to see what happens in the next book.

sorta Four Psychos, sorta not

2.5 for me. I rounded up because of the kids hides face There may be spoilers since I compare, so beware.

So. I got drawn in by the cover, an author name new to me, and the fact that cupids are involved. And then I read the bad reviews and how it’s a rip-off of Cunning’s Four Psychos (which was published first). Here are my thoughts.

Based on my list, it’s eh. Similarities? She does refer to herself as a ghost. And she names the guys by numbers (as in the order she wants to kiss them, like Cunning’s number order for sexy business). The guys think she’s suspicious and sent to make them fail some trials. They anchor her: if she’s too far, she fades.

But I love the thought of her being a Cupid who gets sent to another realm when she fails her mission on earth. And I love the floating islands, the different Fae she comes across. It all gets a little shoved together and glossed over but I’ll never complain about someone getting to the point.

The writing is okay. There were really good lines, but generally, the humor seemed overstretched or maybe just wasn’t to my taste. Emelle’s inner monologuing got a bit much at times. The sexual tension was either yummy or meh.

So I vote for the middle. Was it a blatant rip-off? Well I’d have firmer opinions if there were four guys instead of three and she genuinely cared for them regardless of any one initial thing. And she cares, don’t get me wrong, but that also brings up the experience I’d forgotten: her caring for them seemed rushed. Just the way things were written out. Things would’ve made more sense if she’d been not as invested but grew to be. I didn’t see much growing.

Overall it was okay. Some really good parts, some eh. I wanted to finish it. I found myself wanting to skim. But I couldn’t just return it.
