Crimes of Cupidity: A Fantasy Reverse Harem Story (Heart Hassle)

Book 3 of the Heart Hassle series was just as good as 1 & 2. Several of the plots tied up nicely leaving me very curious as to where Book 4 will go.

There were more serious moments in this installment but still plenty of levity that had me giggling out loud sometimes.

The world building and fae in this series are unbelievable. There’s a whole universe and so many different species to learn about. Raven Kennedy has outdone herself.

I kind of don’t have words right now if I’m being honest.

I’m so sad that the (main) series is even, even though I am SO EXCITED for Lex & Belren’s book & the novella. I genuinely enjoyed how much of the series was about Emelle & her journey, how much of the books were heavily plot driven & her friendships along the way (her and Belren are hilarious & my favorite duo, but Lex & Sev are amazing in their own rights too!)

I’ll be honest—usually when I finish a why-choose book, I have a favorite of the MMCs but I truly cannot choose between Ronak, Okot, Evert & Sylred. They are all so different, and compliment not only each other but also Emelle so perfectly. Plus, girly was incorporeal for like 50 years while spreading love & sex while getting none for herself. If anyone deserves four mates, it’s her.

There were so many parts that hurt my heart & I could feel Emelle’s grief/despair/confusion. But Raven Kennedy’s writing always seems to have a way of really connecting to me, so of course this was no different.

Of course I’ll immediately be jumping into the novella & spinoff novel, then I’ll spend a week crying that I binged the crap out of such an amazing series.

I read the 3 books back to back. While this isnt a review for book 4, the Emelle novella, I am skipping that because it is all pregnant stuff which grosses me out. #3 came to a satisfactory conclusion, so I am comfortable skipping the novella. Not a spoiler because if you are at book 3, you know that is where a "happily ever after" goes. And it is in first page. Maybe will take another peek.

Anyway, it was a decent series. Kept my interest and surprisingly hard to put down. Not an amazing piece of literature, but it was entertaining. Not stressful. Bad stuff happens quick, but also resolves quickly. I like the hot smut, the dirty talk, and the characters grew on me. I thought some of the commentary exchanges were quite funny from start to finish. Book 3 was probably the best in terms of comedy. I laughed out loud often.

I really like the Belren character. Glad to know that one gets a one book spin off. I will read that soon

So 5 stars. Rating a book can be a challenge. It isnt 5 stars compared to distinguished works of literature. it is simply whether I liked it or not. Since I gobbled all 3 books, and intend to read #5, and because I liked it best of the 3 (just was funny), I am going with 5 stars. Why not?
