The extraordinary novel from Queen of Suspense Mary Higgins Clark & Alafair Burke

Five years ago Amanda Pierce was excitedly preparing to marry her college sweetheart. She and Jeffrey had already battled through sickness and health, although their lives were certainly more richer than poorer as Amanda was set to inherit her father's successful garment company.

Then Amanda disappeared the night of her bachelorette party.

In present-day New York City, Laurie Moran realizes a missing bride is the perfect cold case for her Under Suspicion television series to investigate. By recreating the night of the disappearance at the wedding's Florida resort with Amanda's friends and family, Laurie hopes to find the same success solving the cases featured in the series' first episodes. With Amanda's former fiancé now married to a bridesmaid, and a jealous sister, playboy groomsmen, and rumors about the "beloved" bride herself, Laurie and Under Suspicion host Alex Buckley quickly realize everyone has their own theory about why Amanda disappeared into thin air.

One thing is certain, whoever was behind Amanda's vanishing plans to keep the truth hidden "til death do they part"…

All Dressed in White  is another riveting page-turner from the Queen of Suspense Mary Higgins Clark and her dazzling partner-in-crime, Alafair Burke.

Review

Praise for All Dressed in White

“An explosive mix of family drama, secrets, rivalry, money and deception….A dandy whodunit with numerous plausible suspects, skillful misdirection, an exotic setting and smooth prose, it combines Clark’s skill at plotting romantic suspense with Burke’s edgier take on the genre. For those who enjoy escaping into a fine mystery, it’s the perfect hot read for chilly nights.” (Richmond Times Dispatch)

“[A] scintillating sequel…Clark and Burke's collaboration is as smooth as rum and coke, with just enough kick to make the reader thirsty for another." (Publishers Weekly)

Praise for The Cinderella Murder

“Fans will find plenty of intrigue and excitement in this contemporary thriller. . . . Clark keeps readers in suspense.” (Publishers Weekly)

“The snappy pace, layered characters, and many plot surprises will keep readers guessing in this fascinating mystery by two talented writers.” (Booklist)

“This serendipitous series launch will satisfy Clark’s legion of fans and may well win her some new ones.” (Kirkus Reviews)

“Seamless writing, sympathetic characters (and a few scoundrels), and brisk plotting. . . . Clark and Burke are entirely formidable on their own, but this new partnership proves that there’s something to be said for double trouble, which is a real treat for readers. . . . The Cinderella Murder is a winner.” (Hartford Books Examiner)

“The combination of Clark’s talent for suspense and Burke’s harder edge proves successful in this hot read about a cold case.” (Richmond Times Dispatch)

“A layered mystery that is sure to keep readers guessing until the end. . . . A surefire puzzle.” (Bookreporter)

Where Is Amanda, the "Runaway Bride?"

Laurie Moran is about to present her ideas for the next case in her Under Suspicion television series when she finds that her assistant Grace has allowed Sandra Pierce to wait for her in her office. After she hears Sandra's story about the disappearance of her daughter Amanda the day before her wedding, she decides that she wants that story to be the next one in the series. After five years, Sandra has not given up hope that Amanda will be found, but, as her husband felt the need to go on with their lives, she divorced him and moved from their Raleigh home to live near her son and granddaughters in Seattle. After contacting the groom-to-be, who has married her best friend about a year later, her siblings, and the other members of the wedding party, they take the show to Palm Beach and the hotel where the wedding was to have been held, accompanied by Laurie's son Timmy and her father, retired detective Leo. They contact the photographer and the man who had been his intern at the time, who had followed members of the party around to take some candid photos which brought some very interesting things to light. . .

As the show progresses with interviews of all the involved parties, some secrets are discovered. Amanda, who had suffered from Hodgkins lymphoma and recovered, had changed when she got well and had had some second thoughts about getting married. And, of course, there is grave danger for someone. However, Amanda's fate is discovered and, for many people, there is a happy ending. For one or two, however, it is more bittersweet. There was one person I wanted to take by the shoulders and shake some sense into!

The book itself is well written with 74 short chapters and an epilogue. It was a very fast read. I couldn't put it down and finished it the day I received it. I'm looking forward to the next Under Suspicion novel. You will enjoy it, I'm sure.

Was she a runaway bride or did something bad happen to her? Was it a stranger or someone she knew? For five years there were no clues until Laurie Moran and her investigative crew of "Under Suspicion" agreed to look at the case. Another well crafted plot with questions and multiple suspects until the very end.
