What if you thought you murdered your best friend? And if everyone else thought so too? And what if the truth doesn't matter?
After Lucy is found wandering the streets, covered in her best friend Savvyâs blood, everyone thinks she is a murderer. Lucy and Savvy were the golden girls of their small Texas town: pretty, smart, and enviable. Lucy married a dream guy with a big ring and an even bigger new home. Savvy was the social butterfly loved by all, and if you believe the rumors, especially popular with the men in town. Itâs been years since that horrible night, a night Lucy canât remember anything about, and she has since moved to LA and started a new life.
But now the phenomenally huge hit true crime podcast "Listen for the Lie," and its too-good looking host Ben Owens, have decided to investigate Savvyâs murder for the showâs second season. Lucy is forced to return to the place she vowed never to set foot in again to solve her friendâs murder, even if she is the one that did it.
The truth is out there, if we just listen.

People donât believe women who fight back. When a man lashes out, people say heâs lost control of his temper or made a terrible mistake. When a woman does it, sheâs a psychopath.

I should have controlled my temper, I said softly. I should have just cried. Taken the hits and crawled away to show my scars. I should have been a better victim. The truth doesnât matter if you fight back.

âListen for the Lie is a page-turner from the first sentence to the very last. In addition to being a world-class whodunit, full of carefully doled-out twists, Lucy is a terrific character, feisty and funny and, it turns out, brave as hell. Itâs great fun. Readers will rip through this one.â âStephen King
âOriginal and deliciously dark with a wicked sense of humor. An addictive page-turner that will keep you guessing until the end.â âAlice Feeney, New York Times bestselling author
âA singular voice that explodes off the page, Amy Tintera's writing flashes with sharp comebacks and pointed commentary as she expertly knits her web of secrets and small town lies. âAmy Tinteraâs highly compelling voice grips you from the opening line and wonât let you go. A delight from start to finish.â âAlex Michaelides, bestselling author of The Silent Patient and The Fury
âEvery so often, a book comes along that takes you for a ride--now buckle up, because Amy Tintera has written it. Listen for the Lie explores the cruelest kind of world through the eyes of a woman whose grit is only outmatched by her razor-sharp wit. This bitingly funny and subversive thriller is one of the freshest and fiercest you'll read this year.â âCourtney Summers, New York Times bestselling author of Sadie
âLaugh-out-loud funny, thrilling and twisty, edgy and scary, but also surprisingly sweet. I loved it!â âLiane Moriarty, #1 New York Times bestselling author of Big Little Lies, Nine Perfect Strangers, and Apples Never Fall

Amy Tintera
Amy Tintera started writing novels as a kid during her middle school science classes, which probably explains why she has always been very bad at science. She is now the author of several novels for young adults, including Reboot, a Kids Indie Next pick and YALSA Quick Pick for Reluctant Readers, the Ruined series, The Q, and All These Monsters, a YALSA Best Fiction for Young Adults selection.
She has degrees in journalism and film, and worked as a talent agency assistant in Hollywood before becoming an author. Raised in Austin, Texas, she frequently sets her novels in the Lone Star state, but she now lives in Los Angeles, where there's far less humidity, but not nearly enough Tex-Mex.
Listen for the Lie, her first novel for adults, will be published March 5, 2024 by Celadon/Macmillan.

You guys Iâm so excited to talk about my favorite book of the year đđ!!!!
This is a classic whodunit thriller. Lucy is found one morning covered in her murdered, best friendâs blood. Of course, Lucy has no memory of what happened and everyone thinks Lucy is the murderer. Five years later, a true crime podcast puts the murder in the spotlight again, and Lucy returns home to finally see if she can remember that tragic night . . .and to see if she is exactly what everyone thinks she is.
This book kept me on the edge of my seat from the beginning. Every few chapters I had a new theory as to what happened. I was so enthralled I finished this in 24 hours! Quite a feat with two toddlers lol.
I will say, I listened to most of this on Audible bc I was driving home from vacation. Due to the podcast aspect of the story, I think the audio book is the best way to go. Iâm shocked Iâm saying that, but this audio was really good.
Whatâs your favorite book of the year? #thriller

I liked the style of this book. The podcast episodes vs the book and the story was interesting and creative. I laughed out loud in quite a few parts and just really enjoyed the story. The audible version is excellent and highly recommend folks read this with audio.

A total page turner!

This is the third podcast themed mystery I have read and it was BY FAR the best one. A million times better than âAll The Dangerous Thingsâ & âNone Of This Is Trueâ. With that said, if you happened to like those titles you will absolutely love Listen For The Lie. Our MC Lucy, is accused of murdering her best friend but she has no memory of the night of the murder as she herself had significant head injuries. After podcaster, Ben, picks the cold case for his podcast, Lucy is forced to return home and begins to put the pieces together. Lucy has such a sarcastic, no nonsense personality and because of that I instantly liked her even though the whole town hates her. It was exciting, gripping and a total page turner. Loved it!
